Hello, OV Families!

We hope you are enjoying your summer vacation with your family. We look forward to seeing our students at our upcoming business day (8/25) and on the first day of school (9/1 for 6th graders & 9/2 for all grades). More details are below!

We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.

Our office re-opens on Tuesday, August 18th from 8am-2pm and phones will be answered during this time. If you have any questions, please reach out to our office manager, Jamie Wright. You can reach her at WrightJL@mukilteo.wednet.edu.

8/18: OV Office re-opens from 8am-2pm on weekdays
8/21: Mukilteo School District's Back to School Fair from 4-6pm at Mariner High School
8/25: OV Back to School Business Day from 3-6pm
9/1: First Day of School for 6th graders only
9/2: First Day of School for 7th & 8th graders (plus 6th graders)
9/8: Season 1 Sports Begin (Football, Softball & Cross-Country) Must register online (Final Forms) and have current physical on file if interested in participating.
9/17: Fundraiser Kick-Off Day
9/29: Curriculum Night
10/8: Picture Retake Day

SCHOOL INFORMATION

OFFICE HOURS:

During the school year, our office is open from 7:30am-4pm daily. (Office re-opens on 8/18 from 8am-2pm through 8/31.)

SCHOOL SCHEDULE:

Mondays-Thursdays: 8:05am-2:45pm

Fridays: 8:05am-1:30pm

STAFF DIRECTORY:

Need to contact a teacher or other staff member? Families can also message staff through ParentSquare (recommended), Schoology or even Qmlativ.

STUDENT PLANNERS & HANDBOOK:

All of our students will receive a student planner on the first day of school. If a student loses their planner, the replacement cost is $4.00.

Students should use their planners to keep track of homework, assignment due dates, tests and other important items.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

First Day of School for 6th Graders: 9/1
First Day of School for 7th & 8th Graders: 9/2

The first day of school on 9/1 is for 6th graders only from 8:05am-2:45pm.

Our 7th and 8th graders will join our 6th graders on 9/2 from 8:05am-2:45pm.

All students will need to pick up their final class schedule on their first day. Schedules will be handed out under the covered area by the gym.

MESSAGE FROM OUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

As we prepare to welcome students back to Olympic View Middle School, we are excited for the start of another great school year!

Our first day of school is September 1st for 6th grade students and September 2nd for all 7th and 8th grade students in addition to our 6th graders. We look forward to seeing our hallways filled with students, learning, and connection once again.

As families begin the transition back to school routines, we want to emphasize the importance of regular school attendance. Attending school consistently supports students' academic success while also helping them build important social connections and maintain their social and emotional well-being. Every day matters, and we want all students to have the opportunity to engage fully in their learning and school community.

The first few days of school are especially important. These opening days help set students up for success by establishing classroom routines, learning teacher expectations, building relationships with peers and staff, and creating a positive foundation for the school year. We strongly encourage families to prioritize attendance during these first days so students can start the year feeling connected, confident, and prepared.

Please know that we are here to support your family throughout the school year. If you or your student need assistance at any time, do not hesitate to reach out to your school counselor or an administrator. We are committed to partnering with you to ensure every student has a successful and positive school experience.

BACK TO SCHOOL BUSINESS DAY

Mark your calendars for our Back to School Business Day on Tuesday, August 25th from 3-6pm.

Pick up tentative class schedules
Have school picture taken for yearbook and get free ID card
Purchase PE clothes, ASB membership or yearbooks (optional--cash, checks or credit cards)
Sign-up for locker (optional for all grades) and practice opening it
Go on self-guided tour to find classes
Check bus routes and pick-up/drop-off times
Drop off any immunization records or medications
Drop off sports physical forms

Schedule:

6th Grade: 3-4pm
7th Grade: 4-5pm
8th Grade: 5-6pm

More than one OV student in family? Come during the oldest student's time if possible.

Not able to make it to business day? No worries--students can have their picture taken on our retake day on October 8th. All students will pick up their final schedules on their first day of school. PE clothes, ASB membership and yearbooks can all be purchased online or in-person throughout the school year.

Pro Tip: Don't want to stand in line buying items at Business Day? Everything can be purchased online. Highly recommend! See the next section for online ordering info and prices.

SKIP THE LINES--ORDER ONLINE!

Save time on August 25th by taking care of school purchases online before you arrive! PE clothes, yearbooks and ASB memberships can all be purchased in advance through the MSD Online Payment Portal.

What can you purchase?

PE Clothes: Shirts $9 | Shorts $10 | Sweatpants $20--Students need athletic attire for PE and can bring items from home or purchase OV gear. Business Day special: Vintage OV PE clothes will be available for just $5 each (in person only).
Yearbook: $25--We sold out last year! Pre-order now to guarantee your student a copy in June.
ASB Membership: $15--Required for students participating in athletics, clubs, and band, orchestra or choir field trips. Payment covers the entire school year.

Prefer to pay at Business Day? We accept cash, credit cards and checks payable to Olympic View Middle School.

Paying online? Make sure your parent account is linked to your student’s account before completing your purchase--MSD Online Payment Portal.

PICTURE DAY

All students need to get their picture taken at business day (or on October 8th makeup day) for the yearbook and get their FREE ID card.

Want to purchase school photos (optional) from business day? Use the QR code or visit mydorian.com, search for Olympic View Middle School in Mukilteo, and click on the "order" button. You can order online now or for up to two days after picture day.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need your help! Parent volunteers are needed to help at several of our upcoming events.

Stuffing Business Day Packets 8/20 starting at 9:30am (or whenever it works to drop in)
Back to School Business Day 8/25 (helping at various stations--passing out schedules, helping with pictures, PE clothes, bus routes and more!)
First Day of School 9/1 (6th grade day)--passing out schedules from 7:25am-8:10am
First Day of School 9/2 (7th & 8th grade plus 6th graders return)--passing out schedules from 7:25am-8:10am

LOCKER INFO

Students (all grades) can sign up to get a locker at the business day in A100 or any time throughout the year with Mrs. Wright in the office. If students sign up for a locker on business day, they will be instantly assigned a locker so they can practice opening it on that day.

Locker locations:

6th Grade: A building (main floor)

7th Grade: A building (2nd floor)

8th Grade & Connections Students: E building

Lockers are not required and many of our students choose not to have one as there are just four minutes for passing time.
