Washington State Healthy Youth Survey 2025

Logo for the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey, with text and a star.
Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2025. The survey will be given to students in Grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 in the Mukilteo School District. Our 6th and 8th graders will be taking the survey in their PE classes on Monday, October 13th.

The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, interpersonal relationships, school experiences, risk and protective factors, and access to school-based services.

Survey results are used by schools, communities, and State agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and steps are taken to ensure student privacy. There are no names or codes used to link a survey back to a student.

Please read the attached Information for Parents/Guardians and Youth Letter for more information about the Healthy Youth Survey.

SAVE THE DATES!

SAVE THE DATE: OV CURRICULUM NIGHT

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 7th at 6:00 p.m. as we welcome families to OV’s Curriculum Night.

The evening will kick off in the gym with a special welcome from our principal and PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). Afterward, parents and guardians will follow a shortened version of their student’s schedule—visiting each class period for 10 minutes.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your student’s teachers and counselors while experiencing a glimpse of their school day.

PICTURE RETAKE DAY

Did your student miss August's business day or is a new student? They will have their picture taken on Thursday, October 9th in the cafeteria from 8am-11am. Students will be called down by alphabetical order to get their picture taken and pick up their free ID card.

The words 'LIBRARY NEWS' are displayed over a blurred background of bookshelves.
INDEPENDENT READING BOOKS: Students at OV may be asked to read independently after finishing a test, during Monday’s Crew time, or during an emergency interruption to the school day. Therefore, all students are expected to have an independent reading book with them at all times at school. Students can bring school appropriate books from home or they can also check out our large collection of books at the OV library.

LIBRARY DAYS: Your student has library every OTHER week in their ELA class. This week is “V” week - All 7th graders and Harrington’s 8th graders will visit library this week!
Any questions? Contact petersondj@mukilteo.wednet.edu

LIT LOUNGE CLUB: Meets every OTHER Monday. Students can join Mrs. Stangeland and Mrs. Peterson in the library after school on September 29th from 2:45-4pm for games, crafts, talks and fun about books! It’s a great way to join others as we bond over books. Love of reading not required!
