IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Good morning, Pirates,
I want to take a moment to talk to you about a dangerous behavior that's been showing up on social media. It involves putting foreign objects—like coins or metal items—into electrical outlets, which can cause sparks, fires, and serious injuries.
Trying this can result in:
  • Burns to your face, hands, or even inside your lungs
  • Electric shock or electrocution
  • Damage to your eyesight from the electrical flash
  • Fires—some that may burn undetected inside walls
On top of risking your safety and the safety of others, this type of behavior also damages school property. At Olympic View, this will result in an out-of-school suspension for vandalism and for creating a safety concern. Fines will also be assessed for destroying school property.

We care about your safety. Please don’t risk your well-being—or anyone else’s—by trying something you saw online. If you hear about someone planning to do this, let a trusted adult know right away.
Let’s continue to make Olympic View a safe and respectful place for everyone.
– Principal McLane

STATE TESTING DATES

Our school's annual state testing starts next week. Please try to avoid appointments and absences on the dates below as there is limited time for make-up testing. We appreciate your help!

TESTING SCHEDULE:

8TH GRADE CEREMONY UPDATE

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, June 17th! Our 8th grade ceremony starts at 6pm (gates open at 5:30pm) with the FREE student celebration from 7-9pm.
Each family will receive four tickets to the ceremony (passed out in 6th period classes on Friday, June 13th). If you need additional tickets, please consider serving on the 8th grade celebration committee as you earn an extra ticket and can reserve your family's seats! Otherwise, you will need to ask another 8th grade family as OV will not be coordinating additional tickets.

Remember to leave balloons at home as they block the view of others. We look forward to celebrating your student!

8TH GRADE CELEBRATION UPDATE

Parent Shipmates & Decorations Needed
We’re looking for some parent volunteers to help run the 8th Grade Celebration on June 16th and 17th!

Help prevent a mutiny on the ship by volunteering a couple hours of your time! Volunteer positions are open to all OV Parents. We really could use help with set-up, clean up and running the stations during the after party. You can click on the best time slot that works for you on either day: https://bit.ly/ov8thgrade. Please fill out the district's Volunteer Background Check form (if you haven't already) here: https://www.mukilteoschools.org/53139_2

This year's theme is "Adventure Awaits" and the decorations committee would love a little help! If you have any of the items below (or something similar that might fit the theme) that you can donate or loan to the event, please let Sireesha Pasari know at sireeshapasari@gmail.com as soon as possible:

· Antique travel cases/suitcases
· Any old globes or travel stuff
· Maps with cardinal directions
· Pirates related hats or costumes?
· Antique telescope and/or telephones
· Posters with passport images
A table decorated with travel-themed items, including a world map, globes, a compass, and a passport, with the text 'A new adventure begins'.
