We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.

DAILY THEMES FOR SPIRIT WEEK
Show your school spirit and dress the daily themes next week (October 28 - Nov. 1).
  • Monday: Pajama Day
  • Tuesday: Sports Day (hats & jerseys)
  • Wednesday: Music Mania (rep your favorite artist or band)
  • Thursday: Costume Day (no masks, no blood, no weapons; culture is not a costume)
  • Friday: Pirate Pride Day

Fall Fest flyer
FALL FEST 2024
To cap off Spirit Week, don’t miss our Fall Fest on October 31st from 2:45 PM to 4:00 PM! All OV students are invited to our school's Fall Fest. Join us for an afternoon filled with fun activities, including a dance with a DJ, bingo games, open gym time, and creative crafts. This event is free to attend, but snacks will be available for purchase, so bring some cash! (Event is for OV students only--no siblings or students from other schools.)
 
There are NO ACTIVITY BUSES, so families must arrange transportation ahead of time. All students must be picked up promptly at 4 PM.

Parent volunteers are needed to help at the Fall Fest stations. If you can help, please email Jamie Wright.

SCHOOL PICTURES
If you purchased a school picture package from Picture Retake Day, please check your student's backpack this week. They will be passed out to 6th period teachers tomorrow (10/29) to be distributed later this week.
 
Veterans Day Honoring All Who Served
Do you have a family member, friend or neighbor who is a veteran or currently serving our country? Are you an active service member?

We would love to honor OV military family members and veterans by having them as our special guests at our Veterans Day Appreciation Breakfast (8:10am) and Assembly (8:53am) on November 7th.

OV's PTO is sponsoring an appreciation breakfast at 8:10am on 11/7 for our OV veterans and/or active duty members and their OV students prior to the assembly.
  • Want to attend? Must RSVP on this form to save your guest's spot. Limited spots are available. (Sorry--we do not have space for extra guests.)
  • There are 2 spots left! Sign up ASAP.

Please check in at the main office when you arrive at OVMS for either breakfast or assembly.

We also want to honor our OV military family members and veterans at our annual Veterans Day assembly on November 7th starting at 8:53am. (Families are welcome to attend if interested. Stop by the office to sign-in first.)

Want to have your veteran or active duty member included in our school's slideshow at the assembly?
  • Please FILL OUT THIS FORM to submit your veteran's or active duty member's photo and other pertinent info.
  • Pictures must be submitted by this Sunday, Nov. 3rd. (See sample slide above to help with your submission.)
  • NOTE: If you submitted a photo last year, you do not need to re-submit.

General Election Day remember to vote
REGISTER TO VOTE!
There is still time to register to vote! Today (October 28th) is the last date to register to vote online or by mail. If you've moved, changed your last name or just arrived in the county, make sure you update your registration by Oct. 28th. You can check your voter registration status on Snohomish County's website. Remember to vote by Nov. 5th!

HOMEWORK HELP (MONDAYS - THURSDAYS)
Does your student need homework help?
  • Our 6th graders can attend FREE tutoring sessions in C143 after school for Learning Labs with Ms. Frankee and Ms. Jan.
  • Our 7th and 8th graders can stay after school in the library for Elect to Learn (ETL)
Students can also ride the 4pm activity bus home. (Make sure your student knows their address. Staff can help students get on the correct North or South bus.)

AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS
Get involved! Join an after-school club! Check out the CLUBS CALENDAR for more details. (Make sure to check the start date.) More clubs will be added throughout the school year. Keep checking the calendar!

Students participating in an after-school club can ride the activity bus home (must live in bus boundary). Important--make sure your student knows his/her address. There is a North and a South bus; supervising staff can help students get on the correct bus.

OV PTO sponsors many events throughout the school year!

Thank you OV families donating to our Pass the Hat Fundraiser. We raised $1,560 out of our $2,000 goal. Don't forget to get your employers to match your donations. Also, thank you for attending PTO's past two Dinner Nights Out. We raised $258 from MOD Pizza and $200 from Sabor a Mexico!
 
OV PTO's upcoming events:
 
10/30: Pirate Spirit Wear Delivered
PTO's Pirate Wear Store items will be delivered to students during Snacks Ahoy on Wednesday, October 30th. Just in time for Pirate Pride Spirit Day on Friday.
 
11/4: Fun & Games--Bingo & Ice Cream Social
Students can grab a FREE Bingo Board and a FREE ice cream sundae NEXT Monday, November 4th right after school from 2:45-4pm in the cafeteria for Bingo and Ice Cream Social event. Gift card prizes for bingo winners. Snacks available for purchase ($1-$2) and extra Bingo boards for $2. Students must stay in the cafeteria during the event until 4pm. Students can ride the activity bus, as space allows, or parent pick-up. We still need adult volunteer help for set-up from 1:45-2:45pm, sign up HERE.
