OV's FUNDRAISER UPDATE
Our Olympic View online-only popcorn fundraiser started last week, and we need your help. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for athletics, music, clubs, activities, events, assemblies and more. As of last night (10/13), we are currently at $14,769. We still need to raise $10,000 more to meet our goal to pay for our sports, clubs and more. Keep sharing those emails and texts. It's not too late to get started!

Last week, we issued a challenge to all of our students to see which first period class could raise the most money. The top class as of last night is Ms. Turner! Her class earned donuts today during first period.

Great job to everyone that has fundraised so far. Our top five sellers at this time are Midori Kukes, Kate Hipolito, Zoe Boyce-Ullom, Maliyah Luiza & Grace Kneller.

This year our entire fundraiser is online. That means no order forms, money, or product to handle! All popcorn gets shipped directly to the customer and shipping is one small flat fee whether one bag is ordered or 100 bags are ordered!
It's as simple as 1, 2, 3!
  1. Make sure your child(ren) register TONIGHT at vraise.org. You’ll need our JOIN CODE - 62799548 *Some students already registered at school.
  2. Follow the steps to share via email, text, and on social media.
  3. Student Goal: 5-10 online supporters
Every $20 in our PopParadise Gourmet Popcorn (it’s so yummy!) ordered online counts as 1 prize point toward all the prizes students can earn! Chocolate, a flying-screaming sock monkey, and our food and fun GameDay are just a few of the cool things students can earn by helping their school.

UPDATE: Families not interested in selling items can also donate directly to the school. Every $20 donated counts as a $20 sale for prizes. CLICK HERE to donate. (Go to Middle Schools, OV, then ASB donations and fill out any amount you choose.) Families can also come to the office and pay by check, cash or credit card. Questions? Contact our bookkeeper, Lori Koegler.

6TH GRADE LEARNING LABS
Academic Link Outreach is a non-profit organization who is proudly offering a FREE program to all 6th graders to provide extra support for students whose grades are not meeting teacher expectations.

Our program:

  • Rewards students who are earning A, B, and C grades with a certificate and Pirate Pride Card
  • Identifies students with D+, D, and N grades who could use extra help outside school hours
  • Helps students to create an action plan with attainable goals and make a commitment to improving their grades
  • Involves parents in a non-judgmental, team-based approach to help their children achieve school success
  • Offers after school tutoring support for students who would like to spend extra time building and practicing skills that they should have learned at the elementary level, such as Basic Math Facts, Paragraph Writing, and Study Skills, such as Cornell Note-Taking
  • Brings extracurricular challenges to help students build a well-rounded skillset, through the Sasquatch Reading Challenge, and the Missoula Children’s Theater Drama Workshop

Students are welcomed to attend our After-School Academic Success Learning Lab (in the PE Health room-C143), Monday thru Thursday for homework support and individual tutoring. Students can ride the activity bus home (must live in bus boundary).

Look for Ms. Jan and Ms. Frankee in room D-3 during the day if you would like to know more!
ELECT TO LEARN FOR 7TH & 8TH GRADERS
Elect to Learn (ETL) is an intervention designed to promote academic responsibility and effort. It is held in the library on Mondays through Thursdays from 2:45-4pm.

ETL is open to all 7th and 8th graders who want extra help on assignments or who need a quiet place to study, make-up past assignments, get help from a staff member and complete homework. Students may also read novels and use computers for classwork, not games. This quiet study time allows students to move toward success in their learning at Olympic View.
ACTIVITY BUSES AVAILABLE FOR LEARNING LABS & ETL
Activity buses are available for students to ride home at 4pm (must live in bus boundary). In order for staff to direct students to the correct bus, make sure students know their address. (Pro tip--have student write address in their planner.)

GETTING STARTED
Planning on volunteering at OV this year? We would love your help! CLICK HERE to fill out the district's new online volunteer application. Clearance is good for two years.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Still looking for volunteers to come in every two weeks to straighten up the lost and found. At the end of the month, the volunteer takes home the lost and found clothing items and launders them. Volunteer brings back the clothing and stocks it in our clothing closet. We hope to get 6-8 volunteers for this committee so each volunteer is responsible for one month only.

Please email or call our office manager, Jamie Wright, at (425) 366-5210 if you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help.

CHAMPS volunteers will help to supervise before school starts and during lunches. We are extra eyes for OV's supervision staff, who will also be with you to support. As a volunteer, you may choose which day(s) of the week you'd like to volunteer.
