CURRICULUM NIGHT
Our parents and guardians are invited to attend our school's annual Curriculum Night at 6pm on Tuesday, Oct. 8th.

This night is for parents/guardians only--no students or siblings unless needed to help with interpreting.

Here is the Curriculum Night agenda:
  1. Pick up student's schedule (by last name just outside gym area). Your student will also be bringing home a letter from our principal with a blank schedule on the back. Have your student fill this out and bring with you as a backup.
  2. Head into gym for welcome message from our principal and our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization).
  3. Parents/guardians leave the gym and follow their students' schedules for the rest of the evening (10 minutes per period with 5 minutes passing time). Meet your student's teachers and learn more about their classes and requirements.
Hope to see you there!

Library News
Now that every student has had an opportunity to visit the library in their ELA classes, all students should have an independent reading book with them at all times. Ask your student when their library day is so they are better prepared at returning their books on time. If students have forgotten their books for more than four weeks, they will not be able to check out books from the library. This creates a problem because independent books are required in school.

Students can bring books from home or visit our Little Free Library (books donated by community members) at any time also. The school district sends out a message to parents on Sundays if there are overdue items on your student’s library account. If a student is not finished with the library book, they can renew it, if no one has a hold on that title. If you or your student think there is an error in the overdue message, or you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the librarian, Mrs. Peterson.

VOLUNTEERING AT OV

GETTING STARTED
Planning on volunteering at OV this year? We would love your help! CLICK HERE to fill out the district's new online volunteer application. Clearance is good for two years.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
  1. Have an extra 30 minutes before Curriculum Night starts? Volunteers are needed to help pass out student schedules from 5:30-6pm on Curriculum Night (10/8).
  2. Looking for 2-3 volunteers to help on picture retake day (Thursday, Oct. 10th) from 7:30am-11am.
  3. Volunteers are needed to come in every 1-2 weeks to straighten up the lost and found. At the end of the month, the volunteer takes home the lost and found clothing items and launders them. Volunteer brings back the clothing and stocks it in our clothing closet. We hope to get 6-8 volunteers for this committee so each volunteer is responsible for one month only.

Please email or call our office manager, Jamie Wright, at (425) 366-5210 if you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help.

JOIN OUR CHAMPS PROGRAM
The CHAMPS program at OV exists to give adult community members an opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of our students. These adult volunteers serve on campus as a source of encouragement. CHAMPS volunteers cultivate healthy, ambitious, motivated and prepared students.

CHAMPS volunteers will help to supervise before school starts and during lunches. We are extra eyes for OV's supervision staff, who will also be with you to support. As a volunteer, you may choose which day(s) of the week you'd like to volunteer. To learn more about the CHAMPS program or to sign up, please contact our CHAMPS volunteer coordinator, Jim Tinsley, at (206) 351-7669.
